EVERY LITTLE CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING

The 1st of May saw South Somerset Motocross Club
stage Rnd 4 Club Champs and Rnd 3 of the Elite Youth League
at the immaculate Little Silver Motoparc. It’s the first
time the club had ridden the track in some four years and
with the 1st Rnd of the Maxxis British
Championship there in March the paddock was full of
enthusiastic school boys and adults alike. The forecast of
overnight rain didn’t materialize so two men armed with
tractor and bowser set about the task of dampening down the
dust and what a great job they did. By the time practice
started there was hardly any dust to be seen.

With over 170 riders signed on and
ready to race at pricicesely 9.15, our timing crew were
buzzing with confidence considering this was the first
meeting they were running on their own with no help from
MCF, apparently they were given the all clear at our last
meeting to go it alone and I’m glad to say the y
accomplished it with considerable ease.

With the track well watered and racing
underway all seemed to be running smoothly, that is until
the small wheels took to the line. As the 15 second board
flashed so did the sky and down came the un forecast rain,
just what these small chargers didn’t want. But as the old
saying says “every cloud has a silver lining” and in this
case it was to be believed as whilst the shower was sharp it
was only little and soon fizzled out . The sun then started
to shine, and the track was looking perfect and I’m glad to
say that’s how it stayed until we had just finished packing
up, then the heavens opened again but by this time the only
thing of concerned was woulod my windscreen wipers go fast
enough!
Another great day at a great venue well
done all concerned. Roll on Rockhampton 15th May.
